8:20 - Rita's eye moved onshore about 5 hours ago and the storm is still very strong. The storm is still a Category 2 hurricane with winds around 100 mph. While the winds are deadly and very dangerous, it will be the unrelenting rains that will bring the most widespread damage. The Weather Channel is estimating rain totals of 8+ inches for the entire state of Louisiana with local amounts upwards of 16 inches!
