Let the Soaking Begin

Hurricane Katrina was definately stronger than Rita turned out to be but the worst may not be over. Max Mayfield is reporting that the storm is predicted to stall over eastern Texas and instead of winds and storm surge being the most deadly aspect of this hurricane, the flooding could be the enduring story of Rita. This storm is not just going to slow down, it is forcast to just stop for up to 4 days! As it stops, it will just inundate local areas with many inches and up to 2 feet of rain. The following images display anticipated rain totals. Click on each image for a larger version. The flooding that could result from this intense rain could well be the story of Hurricane Rita.
